As I've said before, I like the way this is shaping up. The only category that comes immediately to mind that you might be missing is "Solo Practitioners" or something like that. My Shingle has a long list of these in the left column under "other shingles," but perhaps you've already included those blogs in other categories...

Have you thought about creating a domain for this? Something like "lawblogtaxonomy.com" or "blawgtaxonomy.com"? I'd be happy to help you set something like that up, if you'd like. I suggest it b/c I'm not sure a blog is really the best way to do a taxonomy like this. I mean, it's working pretty well, but this might be something that would work better on a more static site.

One other thought: Wouldn't it be great if you could organize your taxonomy into a collapsible outline? That way you could have as many sublevels as you'd like w/out making it too unweildy. OPML would be the perfect format for something like this. Just a thought.

(1) You could create a "Securities Law" category from among the blogs now listed under Business/Corporate.

(2) Some of the blogs now listed under Advice for Lawyers and Law Firms might be recategorized as "Law Practice Management" and "Legal Marketing."

Nice job Ian, I'll echo what ambimb said above and what I've mentioned before, that I am not sure if a blog is a good place for the final resting of the taxonomy, a static site (with its own address) would prove much more useful, instead this site could be a blog about the creation of the site (a tree style directory, a la yahoo comes to mind) Anyway, good luck.

Ambimb and Ed, thanks for the suggestions. I haven't yet decided where I'll eventually locate the taxonomy, and what format it will take online, but I appreciate you naming some possibilities.
Second commenter, I'll probably do exactly what you suggested, when time allows (which might be awhile). - 3L Epiphany
